Our Coalition is composed of volunteers from various organizations.
We believe the very costly war in Iraq may have been launched illegally and that it and other possibly illegal actions by President Bush and his administration are the major issues facing America.
We wish to protect democracy and defend the constitution--and believe that a return to the rule of law can bring both peace and justice.
We were inspired by the successful April Bring Our Troops Home referendum efforts in 32 communities across the state.
Our goal is to be a resource to help activists in communities throughout Wisconsin place resolutions on the November 2006 and April 2007 ballots:
Voices for Creative Nonviolence is organizing the Occupation Project, a campaign of sustained nonviolent civil disobedience aimed at ending the U.S. war in and occupation of Iraq. The campaign will begin the first week of February 2007 with occupations at the offices of Representatives and Senators who refuse to pledge to vote against additional war funding.
VotersForPeace is educating, organizing and
activating voters
to end the occupation of Iraq and prevent future wars of aggression. We
want to organize anti-war voters into an effective political force that
cannot be ignored. We provide voters with the information and tools
they
need to be effective advocates; this may mean educating your friends
and family on the occupation, writing letters to the media, or becoming
active in your region's Congressional elections.
Peace North is a small but very dedicated group of peace and social justice activists in Northern Wisconsin. Our activities include local vigils, bi-monthly free-to-the-public movie presentations on a variety of social topics, organizing busses with other groups for national demonstrations, sumitting weekly editorials to our local newspaper, letter-writing campaigns to politicians, collecting signatures for the Troop Withdrawal Referendom, and sponsoring other local and regional events.
