John McCain is all excited today, because, in his mind, Joe Biden has really Screwed It Up This Time by claiming that Obama will be tested by a foreign policy challenge, that Obama will act in a way we might not immediately trust, and that we should stand by him if it happens. Oh My God You Have To Vote For Me, is the McCain response, because we can’t afford someone who will be tested in office. As it turns out, Joe Biden is the smarter guy in this argument, a few calm words are in order...and I’m here today to offer a response that will set McCain’s foolishness right back on its heels. So let’s get to it. Let’s begin with the basics: what, exactly, did Biden say?

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said.

Wisconsin at InvescoI'm finally back in my hotel room after the last night of the convention. Getting to Invesco was easy Jesse Jackson at Invescoenough since I took the press bus to the field.  Getting back was another matter - I ended up walking back to my car (about a mile I'd guess) but it was the slowest mile I've ever walked.  Nobody knew where the press buses were, and all I could find were delegate buses going to the delegate hotels.  There were a lot of people leaving the stadium - well, 75,000 anyway, and there was a lot of confusion.  I finally found a policeman who could tell me how to head toward the light rail station, which I knew was the right direction. 

Anyway it was a spectacular evening, whether you looked at it as a convention night, a number of political speeches, or a big concert. It was a little of all of the above.

Biden has just arrived - we're getting a lot of music and the crowd is on its feet, having a good time. When I stand up my laptop falls on the floor, so I'm not a real good candidate. We've just re-shuffled some in the delegation to accommodate the Governor's arrival. He and Tammy Baldwin will be speaking. Unfortunately, I just got moved to a spot where I can't see the stage nearly as well because the press gallery is in the way.

At 3 AM people who were signed up to receive news for Obama's VP pick received their long-awaited text message, saying that Joe Biden is the chosen one.

Since I'd been driving all day on the way to Denver, I of course slept right through the mesage and did not see it until I woke up this morning. At the moment I'm in Lincoln, Nebraska and trying to finish waking up. More from Denver tonight.
