Jennifer NordstromJennifer Nordstrom, a Wisconsin native now working with Carbon Free, Nuclear Free, a campaign of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research (IEER), will be speaking at the Menomonie Public Library on November 10, 2009. . Her presentation will be on “Carbon Free and Nuclear Free: Wisconsin Can Be Both.” IEER recently completed a study, Carbon-Free and Nuclear-Free: A Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy. Based on the study, the campaign aims to get the United States to commit to a zero CO2 emissions economy without the use of nuclear power by 2050. Nordstrom organizes and coordinates the campaign, including its federal legislative, state and regional, and public education and outreach strategies.
Nordstrom’s visit is sponsored by Uppity Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice. Nordstrom’s visit to Menomonie is part of a statewide tour sponsored by a broad coalition of 14 organizations in Wisconsin working to keep the current Nuclear Plant law on the books in the face of an industry-sponsored campaign to repeal the current law.
