Bush's Cuts Hurt Wisconsin

The hardships caused by President Bush’s war in Iraq have been well documented; however, there has been little discussion on how it affects us here at home. Be prepared to feel a hardship this summer when Bush“s budget cuts in the area of Law enforcement start. For example, in Wisconsin, federal grants to help state and local police fight crime will be slashed by nearly two-thirds in 2008— from 6.48 million in 07 to only 2.3 in 08. Nationally, the program was funded at 520 million in 2007 and 170 million in 2008.

Rep. Dave Obey who fought hard to restore the cuts said the following: “ we restored some of the cuts, but he insisted on his total numbers because he {Bush} wanted to pump every dollar into that stupid war in Iraq.” Look for a long hot summer.
